When it comes to assisting the elders of our community, Jewish Family Service helps them maintain independent and productive lives. Our care management services are designed to ensure that older adults remain safe and comfortable in their own homes. One telephone call to JFS can provide access to a network of support that makes this possible, including transportation, care management, culturally sensitive home health care and caregiver support.
Passport Senior Services is a community partnership offering Jewish seniors
and their caregivers streamlined access to programs, services and resources
in the Rochester area. Passport offers information and referral services,
transportation services, care management that supports independent living,
social and recreational activities at the Jewish Community Center, and referrals
to the Jewish Home of Rochester, The Summit and Wolk Manor.
Passport also arranges for home health care with a sensitivity to the Jewish
tradition. Passport Senior Services is a partnership of the Rochester, NY
organizations Jewish Family Service, The Jewish Community Center, The Jewish
Home, and the Jewish Community Federation.
JFS provides frail, isolated elderly with affordable, accessible transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping, banking, etc.
JFS offers private fee case management services including assessment, advocacy, service coordination and assistance with housing transitions. Click here for more information.
EISEP assists older adults who need minimal assistance with housekeeping and/or personal care and non-institutional respite services through various social adult day programs. EISEP services are intended for long term, non-medical situations. EISEP also matches each client with a case manager who helps determine what help is needed and provides on-going guidance to the client and family. JFS social work staff facilitate a twice a month support group at the JCC dealing with issues of bereavement and loss. The program is supported in part by a generous contribution from the Bobry Family. For information call 461-0110.
This is a weekly social day program for senior refugees who meet at the Jewish Community Center to learn English and to celebrate their new lives in America together. The program also teaches skills needed to pass the US Citizenbship Examination.

Recruitment, training and retention of volunteers for programs including Bubbe & Zayde Tech, Friendly Visitors, the Wrench Mensch Brigade, etc.
