The entire JFS staff, board and volunteers would like to thank the generous sponsors and people who attended our recent comedy benefit with Robert Klein. Your support helps us continue our good work throughout the Rochester Community.
Official recognition demonstrates JFS's commitment to highest ethical standards in serving children and families
JFS is pleased to announce that on May 27, 2008, we were approved for Hague Accreditation from the Council on Accreditation and have been granted status as a fully accredited international adoption service provider.
The Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Cooperation in Respect
of Intercountry Adoption is a multilateral treaty signed by the US and a
number of other countries. It establishes safeguards ensuring that inter-country
adoptions take place in
the best interests of the child. The United States requires international
adoption service providers serving Hague countries to be accredited, supported
and monitored. Hague regulations establish uniform requirements and ensure
sound ethical practices designed to protect children, birthparents and adoptive
parents.
JFS is proud to have this acknowledgment of the agency's ethical principles
and rigorous commitment to the children and families we serve.

Jewish Family Service provides quality, accessible and affordable social services dealing with the crises, transitions and dynamics of families and individuals in the Jewish community and general population. As we strive to improve the quality of life in our community, we are guided by Jewish values, in particular Tikkun Olam, or 'Repairing the World'.
By taking our communal responsibility seriously, we help countless adults, teenagers, and children through the transitions and crises of their lives. We have strengthened and educated many thousands of families over the last eight decades, and we continue to do so every single day.
First called the Jewish Welfare Council, then the Jewish Service Bureau, we are the agency that families and individuals have turned to for generations. These days, more people than ever are turning to JFS. And JFS is working harder than ever to meet all of their needs.
