Major Gifts to the Jewish Family Service

The following outline describes a range of high-priority needs that Jewish Family Service is equipped to meet in the coming years. Specific costs and named giving opportunities are Identified for each set of needs.

ADOPTION Overall Needs

Each year, JFS encounters qualified, prospective adoptive parents who need financial assistance to successfully adopt a child. In response, JFS is well-positioned to establish an ongoing Adoption Scholarship program to help cover Home Study costs and counseling fees. Annual costs are projected at $10,000. To secure this amount, a corpus of $200,000 is needed.

AGING SERVICES Overall Needs

The aging segment of the Jewish community is growing rapidly. JFS has historically provided older adults with a range of services, including transportation, case management, friendly visitors, special services for Holocaust survivors, and other forms of vital support. The cost for JFS to meet the sharply increasing demands for these services is projected at $20,000 per year. To secure that amount, a corpus of $400,000 is required.

STRENGTHENING FAMILIES Overall Needs

Hundreds of children, teens and parents in critical need of social services are already receiving valuable help from JFS professional staff through a variety of program activities such as volunteens, after school initiatives, family life education workshops, and counseling. To secure this amount, a corpus of $700,000 is required.

DISABILITIES Overall Needs

JFS serves many clients with serious disabilities and intensive needs. The agency's unique role is to connect these clients in every way possible to the Jewish community, in addition to important resources in the general community. The projected cost to continue serving these clients is $10,000 per year. To secure that amount, a corpus of $200,000 is required.

EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FUND Overall Needs

A core value at the heart of the mission of Jewish Family Service is the belief that families and individuals in crisis deserve assistance. Throughout its history, JFS has combined modest resources with professional expertise to assist in providing food, shelter, and other essentials, when needed. This fund will help ensure that JFS will be always be able to meet these growing needs. The projected cost to establish the fund is $5,000 per year. To secure that amount, a corpus of $100,000 is required.

SPONSORSHIP OF FAMILY ALBUM OR ANNUAL REPORT Overall needs

The Family Album and Annual Report are the main communication vehicles of Jewish Family Service. They educate the community about JFS programs, they spotlight outstanding staff members, clients, and volunteers, and they enhance all of our fundraising efforts. The cost to design and print three publications each year is $7,500. To secure that amount, a corpus of $150,000 is required.

SATELLITE JFS OFFICE IN BRIGHTON Overall Need:

JFS professional staff have long recognized that many clients would be best served in a highly private setting at a more convenient location. In response, the JFS strategic plan calls for the creation of a satellite office. The cost to operate and maintain this satellite is projected at $7,500 per year.

To secure this amount, a corpus of $150,000 is needed.

NEW JFS INITIATIVES Overall Need:

JFS has identified three, top-priority needs within the Jewish community that are not being sufficiently addressed. These needs include:

The total projected cost to develop and operate programs to address these needs is $5,000 per year. To secure this amount, a corpus of $100,000 is needed.

Total Amount of Named Giving Opportunities $2,000,000

JFS Supporting Contributions Gifts of $1,000 to $25,000 will be solicited and acknowledged as part of the JFS Special Gifts effort. Various acknowledgements will be offered at various giving levels within this range.
